The enhancement of its Type S range indicates Acura’s commitment to enhancing the driving feel of its vehicles. The Type S collection was kickstarted with the debut of the TLX Type S, followed by the MDX Type S, and most recently the Integra Type S.

Acura’s Type S variations provide an extra hint of athleticism in the engine without compromising on luxury, unlike more assertive alternatives such as BMW’s M series or Mercedes-AMG offerings.

While the standard MDX features a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6, the Type S model boasts an exhilarating turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, also found in the TLX Type S. This engine delivers 355 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 354 pound-feet of torque at a remarkably low 1,400 rpm.

Teamed with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, the turbocharged V6 promises 40% quicker downshifts and 30% quicker upshifts, albeit it might occasionally take a moment to select the optimal gear.

Compared to the regular version, the MDX Type S has a slightly lesser fuel efficiency, with ratings of 17 mpg city, 21 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined.

An enticing feature of choosing the MDX Type S is the incorporation of a standard air suspension, integrated into an Acura model for the first time. This is coupled with adaptive dampers, enhancing agility in comparison to the standard MDX, all while retaining comfort.

The Type S comes equipped with Acura’s Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system, which not only distributes power from front to rear but also from side to side. This AWD system instills confidence in handling, although the steering might feel marginally lighter.

Inside, the MDX Type S mirrors the design of the standard model, boasting a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and infotainment display. The touchpad operation of the infotainment system could make it less user-friendly compared to a conventional touchscreen.

Oozing luxury, the MDX Type S features plush leather-upholstered seats, with optional massaging front seats, ensuring comfort on extended journeys or moments of relaxation. The 2024 MDX Type S can be obtained with or without the Advance package, starting at $69,345 or $74,695 with the Advanced package.

In summary, the 2024 Acura MDX Type S expertly merges opulence and performance, delivering a nearly flawless combination of attributes.
