We hold a strong admiration for the Honda Civic Type R due to its exceptional framework, motor, and overall driving encounter. If you are searching for something akin but with added refined elements, then have a look at the 2024 Acura Integra Type S. It essentially represents a more sophisticated variant of the Civic Type R.

The Integra Type R is intimately connected to the Civic Type R as they partake the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder motor, albeit with a tad more potency at 320 horsepower. It comes paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, as automatic transmission is not a choice for either the Civic Type R or Integra Type S.

Besides the same motor, the Integra Type S also shares identical front suspension, Brembo brakes, steering mechanism, springs, shock absorbers, and sway bars as the CTR. The principal discrepancy lies in the exhaust system, which in the Integra Type S has been revised to offer a more thrilling acoustic encounter, with crackles and pops in the Sport+ drive mode, an attribute not present in the CTR.

Although sharing mechanical constituents with the CTR, Acura has readjusted nearly everything to deliver a marginally distinct, yet still praiseworthy, driving experience.

Outwardly, the Integra Type S stands out with its generous fender extensions, conferring it a more robust appearance. Differing from the Civic Type R, the Integra Type S does not incorporate a prominent rear spoiler, contributing to a subtler appearance that has received commendation from observers.

Driving the Integra Type S showcases Honda’s adeptness in engineering, as the motor alterations supply a broader power range and improved accelerator feedback. The six-speed gearbox is also laudable for its concise, precise shifts and notable clutch engagement.

The Integra Type S offers three driving modes: Comfort, Sport, and Sport+, which tailor the suspension to provide a supple, comfortable ride or a more assertive configuration. In contrast to the occasionally harsh suspension of the Civic Type R, the Integra Type S manages to accomplish a better equilibrium between sportiness and comfort.

Although the internal of the Integra Type S lacks the same aggressively designed seating as the CTR, the suede inlays and inclusion of heated front seats yield a cozy and functional driving atmosphere. However, the internal architecture and features closely mimic those of the Civic, rendering the Type S appear less unique.

To recap, while we continue to venerate the Honda Civic Type R, the Acura Integra Type S furnishes a more polished and pragmatic hot hatch occurrence, making it apt for daily travel as well as weekend jaunts.
