Just ahead of the highly-anticipated Bathurst 12 Hour race, a slightly adjusted Mercedes-AMG GT3 Extreme vehicle has managed to establish a fresh lap record at the renowned Mount Panorama Circuit.

Mercedes-AMG Performance driver Jules Gounon skillfully maneuvered the AMG GT3 Extreme around the 3.85-mile track, clocking an impressive average speed of 119 mph. The completion time for the lap was an astounding 1 minute and 56.605 seconds – marking a definitive milestone as the fastest lap time ever recorded by a GT vehicle.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Extreme represents a version of the GT3 racing machine that is entirely free of restrictions. With the absence of an air restrictor, the 6.2-liter V8 engine can generate a commanding 650 horsepower. Combined with an aerodynamic drag reduction system, the vehicle managed to achieve a remarkable top speed of 192 mph on the Conrod straight. In addition, the ‘Extreme’ variant showcases an updated front apron, splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser elements.
