When it comes to value in the electric vehicle market, few can rival the impressive offering from Xiaomi: the SU7 Ultra. This isn’t just any new car; it’s a statement piece that marries cutting-edge technology with affordability, available now in China for a starting price of just 529,900 renminbi (around $72,800). That’s a staggering amount of horsepower and tech for not a lot of money!

What sets the SU7 Ultra apart is not just its price point—it’s the sheer power packed into this electric super sedan. This vehicle boasts an incredible 1,527 horsepower with its advanced three-motor powertrain. Quick on the uptake? According to Xiaomi, this powerhouse catapults from 0 to 62 mph in an astounding 1.98 seconds—and that’s without those tricky one-foot rollout tactics that some competitors, like Tesla, use to boost their figures. And if you yearn for speed, the SU7 Ultra can hit a top speed of 217 mph—making it a serious contender not just in the eco-friendly market but in the realm of high-performance machines.

But let’s not pigeonhole the SU7 Ultra as a mere dragster. This car also leaves a strong mark on the track, recently claiming the production car lap record at the Shanghai International Circuit with a time of 2:09.944. The development team even took a stripped-down prototype to the notorious Nürburgring, setting the fastest lap for any four-door car, clocking in at 6:46.874. That’s not just marketing hype; it’s a testament to the engineering prowess at Xiaomi. In fact, a production version is set to officially lap the track soon, and a Nürburgring Nordschleife Limited Edition will follow based on the results.

Battery performance is another area where the SU7 Ultra shines. Equipped with a CATL Qilin 2.0 battery boasting 93.7 kWh capacity, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 11 minutes with the right DC fast charger. Whether you’re on a full-speed joyride or braving swift drives in extreme conditions, Xiaomi’s advanced cooling system ensures that this battery packs the punch when you need it most.

The chassis isn’t left behind either. The factory-standard suspension has been meticulously track-tuned, featuring dual-chamber air springs alongside high-performance adaptive dampers. This setup not only enhances stability but also comes with carbon-ceramic brake rotors paired with Akebono calipers, as well as active aerodynamics that generate up to 630 pounds of downforce. The sophisticated three-motor assembly—one motor at the front and two at the rear—provides an elevated driving experience by seamlessly managing torque distribution to enhance handling.

If you’re a performance junkie, Xiaomi offers an optional Racing Package to truly take your SU7 Ultra experience to the next level. This package includes Bilstein Evo R coil-overs, top-tier Endless brakes, and 21-inch carbon-hybrid wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS semi-slick tires to further amplify grip and agility on the road. Plus, there are additional carbon-fiber body enhancements to give it that killer look and feel.

Recognizing that such intense performance might not suit every driver, Xiaomi has integrated a unique track mode that requires specific qualifications to unlock. For those who might be newer to high-performance driving, there’s even a Beginner mode, making it more approachable.

And it doesn’t stop at the SU7 Ultra. Xiaomi is gearing up to unveil a related YU7 crossover later this year, but whether we’ll see that model get the Ultra treatment remains to be confirmed.

In summary, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra presents a stunning combination of performance, technology, and pricing that’s hard to overlook. If you’re in the market for a powerful electric vehicle that also serves up incredible track performance, this new contender may just be your perfect match. Whether you’re an adrenaline seeker or just want a taste of the next-gen automotive experience, the SU7 Ultra promises a thrilling ride without breaking the bank.
