McLaren has announced a recall for its high-performance 765LT supercar due to the possibility of the rear window detaching.
The recall affects 765LT coupe models from the 2021 production year, with a total of 163 vehicles impacted in the U.S.
As per the recall notice released by the NHTSA on November 28 (recall campaign number 24V901000), inadequate adhesive bonding might lead to the rear window detaching from its frame, especially when the car is being operated on a racetrack.
The detachment of a substantial object like the rear window would pose a significant danger to other motorists.
McLaren stated that it became aware of the problem after receiving several warranty claims regarding the rear window becoming loose in certain sections, and in some rare instances, fully detaching. The company mentioned it is not aware of any related accidents or injuries.
The solution involves McLaren dealers installing specialized fasteners at each corner of the polycarbonate rear window, a service that will be provided at no cost to the owners.
McLaren began sending out owner notification letters on December 6. Those seeking more information can reach McLaren at 1-888-327-4236 or visit the manufacturer’s recall webpage.
