The 2025 model year of the Mazda MX-5 Miata arrives with minimal updates, following an extensive refresh just last year. The main attraction for 2025 is the introduction of a new anniversary edition commemorating 35 years since the debut of the original NA generation.
The MX-5 Miata 35th Anniversary edition is distinguished by its exclusive Artisan Red exterior color and a tan leather-lined interior. Additional distinctive features will be disclosed after the MX-5 Cup race, which occurs in conjunction with the 2025 24 Hours of Daytona next month, where the anniversary edition will be officially unveiled.
The remaining lineup consists of the Sport, Club, and Grand Touring models. The Sport variant is available solely with a soft-top roof, while the Club and Grand Touring editions can be equipped with either the soft-top or Mazda’s RF retractable hardtop, available for an additional $2,720.
Orders for the 2025 MX-5 Miata are already being accepted, with deliveries expected to begin in early 2025. The starting price is $30,515 for the Sport model, followed by $34,015 for the Club, and $35,815 for the Grand Touring, all of which include a $1,185 destination charge. Pricing for the 35th Anniversary edition has yet to be disclosed.
2025 Mazda MX-5 Miata
Each 2025 MX-5 Miata model is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 181 hp, with power delivered to the rear wheels. The base transmission is a 6-speed manual, but Grand Touring buyers can choose a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters for an extra $920.
All models are equipped with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 8.8-inch touchscreen for infotainment, along with the Amazon Alexa voice assistant, and smartphone integration capabilities for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Upgrading to the Club model includes enhancements such as 17-inch wheels replacing the standard 16-inch ones, Bilstein dampers, a front shock tower brace, an asymmetric limited-slip differential, and a nine-speaker Bose audio system. The Grand Touring offers similar improvements as the Club while adding more comfort and safety features, including standard leather seats, heated side mirrors with automatic dimming for the driver’s side, adaptive headlights, and traffic sign recognition.
The current iteration of the MX-5 Miata, known as the ND generation, has been available since the 2016 model year. While Mazda has not specified how long this model will remain in production, the company has suggested that upcoming generations will incorporate some form of electrification. The Iconic SP concept, unveiled at the 2023 Tokyo auto show, showcased a possible path for Mazda, suggesting an electric powertrain combined with a rotary engine as a range extender, resulting in a series plug-in hybrid setup. Although this vehicle is slated for production, it may evolve into a larger sports car comparable to an RX-8 successor rather than the next MX-5 Miata.
