Jaguar is transforming its brand image to position itself as an ultra-luxury automobile manufacturer, aiming to compete with industry giants like Bentley and Rolls-Royce. This evolution will begin with the introduction of three electric vehicles aimed at a high-end market that extends beyond its historical customer demographic—or at least that is the ambition.
The first electric vehicle is scheduled for release in late 2025, and the prototypes have recently been seen in testing for the inaugural time. This vehicle will be a spacious grand tourer, drawing design inspiration from the stylish Type 00 concept car, which was showcased last December during 2024 Miami Art Week.
Jaguar’s goal with both its concept and the forthcoming production model is to reflect the vision of company founder William Lyons’, who said to “copy nothing.” While the concept certainly fulfills this principle, it also pays homage to Jaguar’s legacy, featuring dimensions and side cutlines reminiscent of the iconic E-Type.
The prototypes, though heavily disguised, indicate that the final version of the Type 00 will closely follow the concept’s design cues. Some features have been simplified for production, including the adoption of more conventional lighting at both ends. Additionally, the design of a third brake light—absent in the concept model—is now visible.

Notable features that can be observed include vents in the lower front fascia, an extended clamshell hood, and a charging port located on the front fender on the driver’s side. The purpose of the “LORIPS” inscription seen on the front of the test vehicles remains unclear, although it utilizes a new typeface that Jaguar has developed for its updated branding, which will be adopted with the new electric vehicles.
The presence of a lidar sensor on top indicates that the vehicle will likely incorporate some level of automated driving technology. Additionally, a rear-facing camera is positioned on the roof; since the Type 00 concept lacked a rear windshield, it seems probable that the production version will also forgo this feature in favor of the notable camera setup.
While the original Type 00 was designed as a two-door, the production variant features four standard doors with frameless windows, resulting in a slim profile. Entering and exiting the vehicle may require a significant bend at the knees.
At the core of the vehicle sits a newly engineered platform known as the Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). According to Jaguar, this platform will provide an impressive output of up to 1,000 hp and an EPA range estimate reaching 430 miles, even with the 23-inch wheels shown on the concept model. Remarkably, it is capable of extending its range by up to 200 miles in just 15 minutes of charging with an appropriate DC fast charger. The wheels on the prototype measure 21 inches and are equipped with Pirelli P-Zero Winter 2 tires, sized 265/45 at the front.
The upcoming range of Jaguars is poised to be significantly more expensive than recent offerings, with the commercial launch of the production Type 00 projected for 2026 and expected to carry a price tag exceeding $150,000 in the U.S. Additional models, including a sizeable SUV and a sedan, are anticipated to follow closely behind, potentially at even higher price points.
