Ford is once again in the spotlight as it announces two new recalls for its popular Maverick pickup truck, each stemming from previous recall actions that didn’t quite resolve the issues at hand. If you’re one of the lucky owners of this compact but capable truck, this news may impact you.
These recalls specifically affect select Maverick models produced between 2022 and 2024. The first recall involves 2,711 vehicles whose taillights may fail to illuminate as they should. The second recall concerns another 1,635 Mavericks where the rear turn signals might not activate properly. This isn’t just a minor inconvenience; when these lighting systems fail, they reduce visibility for both the driver and other road users. Let’s face it—no one wants to be in a situation where a lack of visibility leads to accidents.
What’s at the core of these recalls? Unfortunately, it seems to be software errors in the body control modules of the affected vehicles. This issue was supposed to have been resolved under earlier recall efforts, but Ford recently found out that incorrect software was installed in some trucks, which means these lighting problems could persist. It’s a frustrating situation for both the company and its customers.
The good news is that Ford has communicated to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that, as of now, there haven’t been any reported crashes or injuries stemming from these lighting failures. However, this doesn’t minimize the importance of getting these issues rectified. If your Maverick is part of this recall, you’ll need to plan a trip back to the dealership for a software update on your vehicle’s body control module. The update will be provided at no cost to you, making it a little easier to handle this hassle.
Ford is set to begin mailing notification letters to affected owners starting March 31. In the meantime, if you want to get ahead of the game or have questions, you can reach out directly to Ford’s customer service department at 866-436-7332. When you call, keep in mind that the reference number for the taillight recall is 25S07, while the number for the turn signal recall is 25C04.
In a world where recalls happen more often than we’d like, it’s comforting to know that automakers like Ford are taking steps to address issues and keep their customers informed. If you find yourself needing to visit the dealership, remember that this is all about keeping your truck safe and reliable on the road. Your Maverick deserves that, and so do you!
