The base price of the 2025 Toyota Highlander Hybrid has jumped by at least $5,000 compared to the previous year’s model. The entry-level trim for the Highlander Hybrid is now the XLE, which is equipped with all-wheel drive as standard.

The 25th Edition commemorates the introduction of the Highlander in 2001, though it is exclusively available in hybrid form.

Toyota is revamping its lineup for the 2025 Highlander three-row crossover SUV by discontinuing the base hybrid model, introducing a special edition, and making all-wheel drive a standard feature for hybrids.

The price of the 2025 Highlander has seen a slight increase, with the base model starting at $40,970—a rise of $365 from the 2024 version, accounting for a higher destination fee of $1,450. As of now, Toyota has not revealed pricing details for the 2025 Grand Highlander, a larger variant of the three-row SUV that debuted in 2024.

The 2025 Highlander will be available in five trims, offered in both gas and hybrid options. There are indications that the Highlander will eventually transition to a three-row electric crossover, with production expected to begin next year in Kentucky, aimed for a 2026 launch, while the Grand Highlander will continue to offer gasoline and hybrid variants.

The gas-powered Highlander features a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine (265 hp, 310 lb-ft of torque) paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels. All-wheel drive is available for an additional $1,600 on the base LE, XLE, and Limited trims, but is standard on the XSE and Platinum levels.

Beyond these changes, the gasoline-only model largely remains unchanged.

All 2025 Highlanders come equipped with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, active lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beams. Standard convenience features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, three-zone climate control, five USB ports (four of which are USB-C), and 18-inch alloy wheels, accommodating a total of eight passengers.

The $44,020 XLE trim adds amenities such as a hands-free power tailgate, a sunroof, heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, and second-row captain’s chairs, reducing total seating to seven.

The sportier XSE variant, available for $47,790, is exclusively offered with all-wheel drive, sporting upgraded features including LED projector headlights, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and additional black exterior accents along with enhanced interior lighting.

The Limited trim, priced at $48,225, incorporates a heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats in leather, simulated wood accents, acoustic glass in the front, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and an 11-speaker JBL audio system.

At the top of the gas lineup, the Platinum trim is offered at $54,130, boasting additional chrome exterior details, a panoramic sunroof, adaptive headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a 10-inch head-up display, and heated seats in the second row.

    2025 Toyota Highlander Hybrid prices

The previously available base LE and LE Nightshade trims have been removed from the lineup, with all-wheel drive now standard for the Highlander Hybrid. This positions the 2025 Highlander XLE Hybrid AWD at a starting price of $47,450, which is at least $5,000 higher than last year’s Highlander Hybrid LE, albeit with better standard features associated with the XLE trim.

All Highlander Hybrids will now feature all-wheel drive and a 2.5-liter inline-four engine linked to Toyota’s established three-motor hybrid system, delivering 243 hp. This powertrain achieves 35 miles per gallon combined, while the heavier Limited and Platinum models with 20-inch wheels see a slightly lower efficiency at 34 mpg.

The new 25th Edition, exclusive to the Highlander Hybrid, celebrates 25 years since the launch of the original Highlander in 2001. The hybrid variant debuted in 2006, following the pioneering Toyota Prius.

This limited edition highlights its anniversary with silver-finished 20-inch wheels, silver exterior accents, and a variety of “25th Edition” branding. It also includes a surround-view camera system and leather seating. Priced at $54,130, the 25th Edition is $995 more affordable than the top-tier 2025 Highlander Platinum Hybrid.

Manufactured in Indiana, the 2025 Highlander is set to hit the market this November.
