The Volvo EX30 has begun arriving at customer locations in the U.S., with the current offering limited to the flagship EX30 Twin Motor Performance variant. More versions of the electric subcompact crossover are on the way, including the rugged EX30 Cross Country, which had its debut in Sweden on Monday.

Volvo had earlier teased the EX30 Cross Country’s design with a concept model in 2023, and the final production version remains largely unchanged. It boasts higher ground clearance compared to the standard EX30, accompanied by 18-inch wheels that can be equipped with all-terrain tires. Volvo plans to offer these tires alongside various accessories such as a load carrier, roof basket, and mudflaps as part of Cross Country Experience packages.

The design of the EX30 Cross Country is further distinguished by dark panels at both the front and rear, as well as rugged wheel arch protectors and skid plates. Volvo has incorporated a topographic depiction of the Kebnekaise mountain range in northern Sweden on the front panel, which the company notes is often an inspiration for its design team.

Inside, the layout remains consistent with that of the standard EX30. Owners will benefit from generous storage options, including spacious compartments in the doors, facilitated by relocating traditional door-mounted speakers to a soundbar positioned on the dashboard. A sliding central storage tunnel serves as either a cupholder or additional storage, while a measuring guide in the cargo area aids in accommodating larger items. The vehicle’s infotainment system includes Google built-in.

The vehicle comes equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain, known as the Twin Motor powertrain, as standard. However, Volvo has yet to disclose its power output. Currently, all EX30 models are fitted with a 69-kwh battery, and this specification is expected to carry over to the EX30 Cross Country.

Further details are anticipated soon, as Volvo has indicated that the EX30 Cross Country will make its way to U.S. showrooms later this year, likely introduced as a 2026 model. Pricing details will be revealed closer to the launch date.

While not officially confirmed, it’s likely that the EX30 Cross Country for the U.S. market will be produced at a Volvo facility in Belgium to circumvent high tariffs on EX30s being manufactured in China. Volvo aims to commence EX30 production at the Belgian plant in the first half of 2025.

The EX30 is among five new Volvo models set to debut in 2025, joining other offerings like the ES90 electric midsize sedan and a long-range plug-in hybrid.
