Volkswagen has officially announced the pricing and details for the long-awaited 2025 Tiguan, which will hit dealer lots this summer with a starting price of $30,920—including a $1,425 destination fee. This price reflects a modest increase of $615 compared to its predecessor.

The unveiling of the new Tiguan took place at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show, generating significant buzz among car enthusiasts and potential buyers alike. This latest iteration of the Tiguan seems to hit the sweet spot, combining improved dynamics with a more upscale interior design, an enhancement that’s sure to excite current owners looking for an upgrade or potential buyers seeking value in a mid-size SUV.

One of the most notable improvements is the weight of the vehicle; the 2025 model has shed about 170 pounds compared to earlier models. This weight reduction is largely thanks to the introduction of aluminum in some suspension components and increased use of high-strength steel in the body, leading to not only better fuel economy but also sharper acceleration. However, Volkswagen is keeping those exact performance numbers under wraps, promising to release them closer to launch.

Under the hood, the Tiguan is powered by a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which cranks out 201 horsepower—an increase of 17 horsepower from the outgoing model. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and is available in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations. For those planning on towing, the Tiguan comes with a respectable towing capacity: 1,500 pounds for front-wheel models and 1,800 pounds with the AWD option.

While the new Tiguan remains closely aligned with the global model unveiled in 2023, American buyers will have to wait a bit longer for one feature: the plug-in hybrid option, which is missing from the initial U.S. offering. However, VW has hinted that a hybrid version could be introduced in the future, leaving the door open for those more environmentally conscious consumers.

Another area where the 2025 Tiguan excels is in its technology and interior comfort. Consumers are likely to appreciate the more refined cabin materials, which may include options like American walnut wood trim and quilted leather. Higher trims will also feature heated and cooled seats with a massage function—perfect for long drives or simply enjoying the ride.

The tech offerings are significant, too. The Tiguan comes standard with a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster, while the infotainment screen has been upgraded to 12.9 inches, with an option to enhance it to a whopping 15 inches. For those who value convenience, a head-up display is available, keeping essential information directly in your line of sight.

Volkswagen has carefully retained some physical controls, including a large rotary dial that not only manages the volume but also doubles as a controller for various driving modes and unique mood settings, dubbed “Atmospheres.” This feature allows drivers to tailor the cabin’s ambient lighting and sound to match their mood—an intriguing touch for those who want a personalized driving experience.

With production set to take place at VW’s facility in Mexico, this revamped Tiguan promises to be a standout contender in the crowded SUV market. Whether you’re a current Tiguan owner ready for an update or a first-time SUV buyer on the hunt for a reliable vehicle with modern comforts and cutting-edge technology, the 2025 Volkswagen Tiguan looks poised to impress. As always, it’s advisable to take a test drive and experience all the new features firsthand before making your purchase decision. You’ll want to know exactly how it feels behind the wheel, as comfort and handling can greatly influence your satisfaction with a new car.
