The 2025 Toyota 4Runner SR5 sees a modest increase of just $65 over last year’s price, whereas other models have experienced price hikes of up to $11,000. The 2025 4Runner Hybrid provides 23 miles per gallon in the city, 24 on the highway, and a combined 23 mpg. Sales will commence in early 2025.
On Tuesday, Toyota announced that the revamped 2025 4Runner will range from $42,220 to $68,350, which includes a destination charge of $1,450. This increase is minimal compared to the base 2024 4Runner SR5, although the remaining 15 models in the lineup have seen price surges between $3,500 and $11,000.
The base model comes with rear-wheel drive, accompanied by a 2-speed transfer case and an electronic limited-slip differential. Four-wheel drive is available for an additional $2,000 on models such as the SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Sport Premium, and Limited trims. In contrast, TRD Off-Road, Platinum, Trailhunter, and TRD Pro models come standard with 4WD; all except Platinum feature an electronic locking rear differential, while Platinum includes a center locking differential unless paired with 4WD, in which case the Limited model also includes this feature.
Each 4Runner is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission paired with a choice of 2.4-liter turbo-4 powertrains. The turbocharged engine offers 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque in the SR5 through Limited models, yielding an EPA estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city, 26 on the highway, and a combined rating of 22 mpg; however, higher-end Limited models with 20-inch wheels achieve a highway rating of 24 mpg. The introduction of four-wheel drive reduces these figures to 19 mpg city, 25 highway, and 21 combined.
Choosing the hybrid option adds a 2.4-liter turbo-4 combined with a 48-kW motor and 1.87-kWh battery, resulting in a total output of 326 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque for an additional $2,800 on TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Limited, Platinum, Trailhunter, and TRD Pro trims. The EPA rates these hybrids at 23 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.
The maximum towing capacity is rated at 6,000 pounds, showcasing a notable enhancement over the previous 2024 model, which featured a more antiquated 4.0-liter V-6 engine and 5-speed automatic transmission, achieving only 16/19/17 mpg with rear-wheel drive.
Every 4Runner includes a warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles and two years or 25,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. Standard driver-assistance features encompass automatic emergency braking, active lane-control systems, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high beam headlights. An additional driver-assist technology also aids in decelerating the vehicle when approaching oncoming traffic or navigating tight turns.
Convenience features across the lineup encompass an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a power tailgate window, a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster, and both LED headlights and fog lights.
The TRD Sport, priced at $48,700, upgrades to 20-inch dark-gray alloy wheels and includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, heated front seating (with manual adjustments), five USB ports, and a wireless device charger.
For further upgrades like ventilated power front seats and a surround-view camera system, the TRD Sport Premium is available for $54,060.
The TRD Off-Road starts at $50,640 and comes with standard four-wheel drive, while the Off-Road Premium model includes the same enhancements as the Sport Premium for $56,420.
The Limited model, priced at $56,850, features leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and both front and rear parking sensors.
Both the Trailhunter and TRD Pro 4Runners are priced at $68,350, equipped with remote-reservoir shocks, 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires for approximately two inches of additional ride height, and higher-mounted air intakes for improved fording capability. These models also come with rock rails and skid-plate protection for crucial components, a 2,400-watt inverter, and pre-wired auxiliary switches.
The Platinum trim, costing $65,310, offers blacked-out trim, a towing package, a head-up display, and heated second-row seating.
