The revamped 2025 Subaru Forester has been recalled due to concerns that 20,366 of these crossovers may feature improperly manufactured wheels.
The affected models have 18-inch alloy wheels, which may have been produced with incorrect specifications for the lug seat surface, as reported by the NHTSA. This manufacturing defect could hinder the wheel’s proper attachment to the hub, potentially leading to compromised stability while driving and heightening the risk of an accident, according to the safety agency.
Subaru has informed the NHTSA that it has not received any warranty claims associated with this issue, which was discovered when the incorrect lug seat surfaces were noticed during assembly.
Dealers will assess the wheels on the impacted vehicles, and they will replace them at no cost if necessary. Furthermore, Subaru will reimburse any customers who have incurred expenses for related repairs independently.
Starting March 24, Subaru will notify 2025 Forester owners about the recall via postal mail. Owners can also reach out to Subaru’s customer service at 1-844-373-6614 or visit Subaru’s recall webpage for additional details. The reference number for this recall is WRB-25.
The 2025 redesign of the Forester introduced refreshed aesthetics, an enhanced chassis for greater rigidity, and improved cabin sound insulation, among other enhancements. Currently, it comes equipped with a standard 2.5-liter flat-4 engine that generates a modest 180 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, although a hybrid powertrain is anticipated to launch later in the model year.
The Forester has secured a position as a finalist for our 2025 Best Car To Buy award. While it could not achieve a third consecutive win following victories in 2014 and 2019, our assessment indicates that the redesigned Forester effectively meets the demands of an active lifestyle.
