2025 Nissan Altima Introduces New SV Edition After Discontinuing The Turbo-4 Engine

Nissan might be intending to terminate the Altima midsize sedan in 2026, however, in the meantime, it has simplified the complexity of the lineup—at least concerning its powertrain options.

This year, Nissan has removed the previous turbo-4 variant that used to promise enhanced performance and efficiency across both the Nissan and Infiniti ranges. The 2.0-liter turbo-4, known as the SR VC-Turbo, had the ability to adjust its engine compression through an intricate mechanical system but failed to offer transformative power, was not available with all-wheel drive, incurred higher costs, and did not improve fuel efficiency in the Altima whatsoever.

This year’s exclusive powertrain is a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter 4-cylinder generating 188 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque when configured with front-wheel drive, or 182 hp and 178 lb-ft when fitted with all-wheel drive.

The 2024 Nissan Altima achieved a TCC Rating of 6.0 out of 10, with commendable safety and comfort ratings mitigating a poor performance score.

Starting prices are set at $28,140 for the Altima S, which features cloth seats and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wired connections for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This climbs to $28,750 for the new Altima SV with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive adds another $1,500. Every 2025 Altima sedan includes three complimentary oil changes during the first two years or 24,000 miles of ownership. All variations are equipped with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, and automatic high beams.

The new Altima SV combines several sought-after features into one trim level. It boasts a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, 17-inch wheels, a wireless charging pad, and interior décor designed to resemble carbon fiber.

The Altima SR is priced at $29,970, with all-wheel drive available for an additional $1,500. Nissan lists the Altima SL at $34,470, with the same upcharge for all-wheel drive. Features at the peak of the sedan range include the 12.3-inch display, Bose premium audio, wireless smartphone connectivity, a wireless phone charger, a surround-view camera system, a sunroof, and adaptive cruise control with limited hands-free capability.
