For the 2024 model year, Mercedes-Benz AMG has revamped its GT sports car lineup, introducing new variants for 2025.

Among the new offerings is the base model AMG GT 43, which made its debut in March. It is set to arrive in U.S. dealerships this fall, with Mercedes announcing a base price of $107,050, including a $1,150 destination fee.

This pricing offers a significant reduction compared to the $136,050 starting price of the 2024 GT 55 and is also lower than the pricing for the related 2024 SL 43, which starts at $111,050.

The GT 43 shares the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the SL 43. In this variant, the engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission, producing 416 hp. In contrast, other models in the GT range utilize twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engines.

Despite having fewer cylinders, the GT 43 is still impressive, achieving 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds and reaching a governed top speed of 174 mph. This performance is enhanced by an electrified turbocharger setup reminiscent of those used in Formula 1.

Located between the turbine wheel on the exhaust side and the compressor wheel on the intake side, an electric motor powered by a 48-volt mild-hybrid system—measuring only 1.6 inches in width—works to spool the compressor at lower RPMs before the exhaust gases take over. This configuration minimizes turbo lag, which improves engine responsiveness.

Unlike the other GT variants that feature all-wheel drive, the GT 43 solely powers the rear wheels. By utilizing a smaller engine and foregoing the all-wheel-drive system, this model likely sheds considerable weight compared to its counterparts, though curb weight figures are still unannounced.

The GT 43 does not come with the AMG Ride Control suspension featuring adjustable damping as standard; however, it does feature as an optional upgrade. Additionally, it lacks the Race mode typically found in the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT drive selector.

The GT 43 sets itself apart visually from the other GT variants through its distinct front and rear designs, in addition to featuring round exhaust tips versus the V-8 models’ square exhaust tips. It also sports unique wheel designs, with the standard wheels having a diameter of 19 inches.

Standard amenities include leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats with heating and memory options, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.9-inch touchscreen for infotainment, a Burmester sound system, a surround-view camera system, a wireless phone charger, and compatibility with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The 2025 model year also introduces new entries to the GT lineup, including the GT 63 Pro and the GT 63 S E Performance, the latter being a plug-in hybrid that delivers a total of 805 hp. Pricing details for these models will be disclosed at a later time. The new variants join the already available GT 55 and GT 63 models.
