At $27,495, the 2025 Jeep Compass is more affordable than its predecessors, yet it remains pricier than the Subaru Crosstrek.
High-priced options and packages can elevate the Compass past $40,000. Compass Trailhawk versions possess superior off-road capabilities compared to competitors.
The 2025 Jeep Compass is set to debut in dealerships this autumn, priced at $2,500 lower than the previous year, thanks to mid-model year price adjustments and Jeep’s strategy to enhance the compact crossover’s competitiveness. The entry-level 2025 Compass Sport starts at $27,495, as announced by Jeep on Wednesday. The initial pricing for the 2024 Compass was $29,995, based on data from October 2023.
Jeep’s lineup has undergone significant transformation since the refresh in 2022, followed by the introduction of a new 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine for the 2023 model year. In this two-year revamp, Jeep phased out the Cherokee midsize crossover and subsequently reduced the Renegade small crossover. Beyond the off-road Wrangler and Gladiator siblings, and the full-size Wagoneer SUVs, Jeep currently offers the Compass along with two Grand Cherokee variants.
The redesign aimed to position the Compass more favorably in the market, akin to the Grand Cherokee L, but it has struggled to establish its presence in an overcrowded compact crossover segment featuring numerous offerings from various manufacturers. Despite mid-cycle pricing reductions, Compass sales this year have dropped by 3% compared to 2023, with a notable decline of 21% during the second quarter relative to 2023.
Jeep has streamlined the 2025 Compass lineup to four trims: Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. Each Compass is equipped with that turbo-4 engine producing 200 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission distributes power to all four wheels, while Jeep provides two different all-wheel-drive systems, granting the Compass off-road capabilities that most rivals merely mimic.
Across the lineup, standard safety features include LED lighting, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, active lane assistance, and blind-spot monitoring. Standard convenience offerings feature an 8.4-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloth seating, and keyless entry.
The base features are commendable for the price, particularly with standard all-wheel drive. It still costs at least $1,000 more than the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek and 2025 Mazda CX-30, both of which include standard AWD. However, the options can become pricey. Jeep charges $1,575 for a trailer hitch and wiring harness capable of towing up to 2,000 pounds, while many competitors charge significantly less than $1,000. Additional features like a panoramic sunroof come packaged in costly Altitude bundles priced at $3,275. Wireless smartphone charging is available on Latitude, Trailhawk, and Limited trims, but not included as standard.
The 2025 Compass Latitude starts at $29,765 and includes a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, vinyl and cloth upholstery, and the Altitude package, which adds a 10.1-inch touchscreen and other enhancements.
The $33,840 Limited trim includes 18-inch wheels, upgraded wipers, floor mats, synthetic leather, a larger touchscreen, and a host of additional options.
The $33,990 Trailhawk package encompasses the Latitude’s features while enhancing off-road capabilities with skid plates, all-terrain tires mounted on 17-inch wheels, a full-size spare, three tow hooks, a low-speed crawling gear, and an increased suspension height by one inch.
