The Durango stands as the last Dodge model still offered with a Hemi V-8 engine; however, its availability in this popular three-row SUV is soon coming to a close.
While Dodge has not officially indicated when the V-8 will be discontinued, it will eliminate one of the three V-8 engine options for the 2025 model year.

On Wednesday, the American muscle brand announced that the 2025 Durango, currently open for orders, will come exclusively with a 360-hp 5.7-liter option and a 710-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, as well as the entry-level 360-hp 3.6-liter V-6. The previously offered 475-hp 6.4-liter V-8 has been eliminated.
The supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, designated for the Durango SRT Hellcat variant, will be available only in limited quantities. Stellantis, the vehicle’s parent company, halted production of this engine at the close of 2023, and the remaining supply is dwindling. The 2025 Durango SRT Hellcat stands as the final Stellantis model to feature this engine, and it will be available in several special editions, including the Silver Bullet, Hammerhead, and Brass Monkey.

In celebration of 20 years since the Hemi V-8 was introduced in the Durango, Dodge has unveiled a special R/T 20th Anniversary edition featuring the 5.7-liter V-8.
While there are no significant updates to the Durango for 2025, the lineup has been simplified. Aside from the special editions and the SRT Hellcat performance lead, customers can select a base GT model or a mid-level R/T. The GT is equipped with the V-6 engine, while the R/T comes standard with the 5.7-liter V-8.

The GT’s Plus Package has been enhanced with additional standard features, now including a power sunroof, navigation system, a nine-speaker Alpine audio setup, heated first and second rows (with first-row venting), and various electronic driver-assist technologies. Additionally, a 10.1-inch touchscreen has been standardized across all 2025 Durangos.
Dodge is anticipated to reveal further special-edition Durangos before completely phasing out the V-8 engines. Similar to what was done with the last V-8 versions of the Challenger and Charger muscle cars, Dodge is expected to introduce a series of “Last Call” special editions marking the conclusion of the V-8 legacy in the Durango. The first of these was announced in January as the 2024 Durango SRT 392 AlcHemi, with more editions slated for release in 2025.
